Restoring a 1968 911L - April 2003

Here are some pictures that document the restore during the month of April. We got the entire interior stripped out and are still removing much of the asphalt carpet glue to this day. The goal is to get the entire interior down to bare shinny metal.

In order to fix some of the bigger problems we ended up having to buy the whole front end from a 67' 912. Here is Rick cutting up the front end for parts. The end result.

Here is the car after we got it up on blocks to begin the strip down process. Rick and his father Jim remove the front fenders. At first we were a little puzzled by the white paint in the trunk but after removing much of it and finding rust we think it was a good move.

Here is the front suspension pan with the fuel tank support removed to show the rust damage. Very typical for early 911s. My father is a pro at 911 doors. Removing and installing, which requires reaming the door pin bushings to fit. We had him do the honors. Jim hard at work removing the interior.

Rick and Mel removing the rear glass. Here is a good look at our biggest problem. Dealer installed air conditioning. Jim cleaning up the pan after a hard and very dirty days work.
