Restoring a 1968 Porsche 911L

August was a bad month. With everyone on vacation there was little we could do but watch it sit. The plus side is that the front trunk area was finished and ZeroRusted. September brings the promise of good weather so we can finish the rear tray and tail light buckets and call the gross bodywork phase done! I can't friggin wait. Someone save me from the confines of the salt mines!! It's killing me !!!

Now here is an accomplishment. Front trunk section and front suspension supports done finshed and sealed with ZeroRust. Along those same lines, Ken finished up the finishing touches on the fuel tank. We rolled the car out front in preparation for sandblasting.

Here's Rick cleaning up the front hood rails. Here is Ken going at it with the sandblaster. Hmmm. Swiss cheese. Uh huh. Bad. This is what moisture does to metal. Rust sucks. This will all have to be cutout and replaced.

Mmmmm. Not good. Rick going at it with the sawzall. Here is Rick with the sawzall taking down the rear pillar to make room for the panel removal.

This shows the parts of the rear tray we needed for our car. This was a milestone. The 2nd 68' 912 Rick had purchased was finally hacked for the parts we needed and then hucked! Here is an example of what needs to be replaced. The piece being held will be stripped and welded into the section cutout underneath.

A couple of pics of Ken welding in the corner pieces for the rear windshield seam. Ken finishing up the weld for the rear windshield seam. Bunch of fools wasting another Saturday at the salt mines. Shouldn't you guys be out partying or something? You'd think!
