Restoring a 1968 Porsche 911L

As stated earlier the car was modified at some point in it's life for air conditioning. Typically the Porsche factory "preped" the cars before leaving Stutgart but it was up to the local dealers to install the actual equipment. Well if this car is any indication of the caliber of work done to install the air I'd have run from every dealer I came into contact with! Seriously. The car was "hacked" with no regard for rust protection, body strength or anything. We took it upon ourself to do this repair the right way the way the factory would do it had they been restoring the car.

Here is Rick preping the original spot weld lip for the replacement bulkhead. Here it is from the opposite side. Remember that 67' 912? Well we cut that whole front end up for this. Well, actually we got another part too but man was it a bitch getting to them!

Here is a test fit of the bulkhead before welding in. Here I am welding in the bulkhead from the passenger compartment. Here is the top of the trunk floor that we so carefully cut from our donor car.

Here is our buddy Mark welding in the top trunk floor section. We spent a ton of time cutting and fitting to get the factory stamped "beads" to line up with the originals still in the floor. Brand new. Once the trunk gets it's coat of undercoating everything will look and feel factory correct; cause it is!
