Restoring a 1968 Porsche 911L

Getting the car into ZeroRust took till the 1st weekend in November. Luckily for us the weather stayed in the 80s so we were able to complete everything before everything went to hell. Once ZeroRust completely cures (about a month) it is impervious to fuels, oils and abrasion. It can be topcoated with just about anything.

Here's Rick masking off the pedal area in preparation for ZeroRust. Here's Ken shooting ZeroRust in the fenders. Here's Ken beginning the first red oxide coat of ZeroRust to the floorpan.

ZeroRust can take the place of epoxy in most cases and in my opinion is superior. As long as you got time to wait ;-) Slowly making my rounds. Here's the first run during the 1st flash off period. Flash is 30 min between coats. Very important!

Here's Rick taking care of some minor cleanup before the next coat. Rear fender well in ZeroRust. On goes the black ZeroRust. This was actually exciting since the car had been metal for so long.

Shooting the front of the dash. Still need some touchup. That will be done with a rattle can as my gun won't reach. After the black ZeroRust the car looks factory new.

The last section of ZeroRust was the rear suspension area. Here I'm removing the undercoating. Nasty! Here's Rick following me with a wire wheel on a grinder. Rick with the grinder. That's some clean metal.

Here is the cleanedup rear section. We masked the brake and throttle lines. Another shot from the otherside. Rick masking off all the cables.

Ken shooting ZeroRust up into the the knooks and crannies of the rear suspension area. Wow is that not factory new? Finally looking good.

And finally the entire bottom of the car is in ZeroRust. Engine compartment finished. Touchups will be done with a can. Rear section done. Yes!
